Khushi sat in the dimly lit room, her breathing shallow as she tugged helplessly at the handcuffs securing her wrist to the bedpost. The cold metal bit sharply into her skin, leaving angry red marks that burned with every small movement. Her wrist was already swollen from the hours she had spent trying to free herself.
Tears pricked her eyes again as she leaned her head back, staring at the ceiling, whispering to herself as though trying to convince her own heart.
