The temple bells chimed softly, their echo carrying through the high ceiling as the faint fragrance of marigolds and sandalwood drifted in the air. Devika stood in front of the pandit, her eyes fixed so intensely on him that it almost felt as if she was trying to read his soul. Her silence was heavy, her expression a mixture of worry and determination.

The pandit, adjusting his rudraksha mala, frowned under the weight of her unwavering gaze.
